Swapping to a 3.0, what to do before I install?
Hey guys,
I just got a 3.0l to pop in my 76 with a 2.7.This is a list of things I am going to do to the motor before I put it in: -Clean oil pump strainer -Valve adjustment -Powdercoating valve covers (have turbo covers) -New valve cover gaskets -Cleaning and powdercoating tins -Cleaning entire engine (any suggestions?) -Changing cylinder head temp sensor Should I pull the oil cooler and have it hot tanked, and replace the o-rings? Is there anything else I should absolutely do before I put this thing in? On a side note, I need your opinion. I have a set of webers from the 2.7. At a minimum they need a a float (one is cracked). Am I going to completely regret selling these and running the CIS that the 3.0 came with? The webers gave me a weird part throttle poppyness that drove me insane, but I'm not sure how much of that was the carbs vs. the motor which is in dire need of a rebuild. Sorry for all the questions, just want to ask the more experienced guys! Thanks, Joe What are some other, preventative |

Just one:
Depending on your locations (IOW, if you don't need a Sauna-Blaster of a heater) put the block off plates* on the engine while it's out of the car. According to my mechanic, one side is easy but the other side is next to impossible to install with the engine in the car. * http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_VENTht_pg2.htm#item5
