I started in the computer business as a Unix-head. Our standard username format at the time was first initial, middle initial, last name. I guess it stuck.

MAS956 11-13-2007 09:01 PM

Some paper pushing bureaucrat from the Witness Protection Agency made it up as an anagram of my real name. Oh wait, nevermind...move along - nothing to see here.

mossguy 11-13-2007 09:40 PM

I live in the Great Pacific Northwest. It rains a lot. There's a lot of moss. I spend a lot of time out in the rain. Also, I was born in Jan of 1936 and my Porsche is a 1971 911T. I don't know what I'll do this January - whether to buy a '72, or just be 72 in a '71.

JackMan 11-14-2007 03:38 AM

Well, I have a first name - Jack - for a last name. I have a last name - Wellborn - for a first name. Damned if I'd use my real name anyway, need to be somewhat anonymous amongst us Porscheoholics.... JackMan came from my kids when we started the XBox evolution in our home playing Project Gotham Racing. My turn came up to sign on, and my then 6 year old said "JackMan." It stuck.

Wellborn Jack, III

goldsc78258 11-14-2007 05:24 AM

Nothing special, I shoot a lot of sporting clays, and the gun a use is a browning gold sporting clays model, hence the goldsc and the 78258 is just my zip code

I did my surgery residency @ Medical College of Virginia to specialize in Periodontics or gum surgery.

Funny thing is I primarily do dental implants in my practice which could lead to a much more interesting user name!!!

i.e. got implants?

gigem75 11-14-2007 06:21 AM

"Roux" remember the group la roux? "new orleans lady"

Steveinatlanta 11-14-2007 06:38 AM

I'm a pretty forgetful person. Every time I forget my user name, I just rely on one of my old, favorite memory joggers:

"Happy birthday dear...."

HawgRyder 11-14-2007 06:51 AM

Mine is self explanitory.
I ride a Harley, have done so for over 45 years, will do so until I go to that warmer place where all my friends are.

AngM018 11-14-2007 07:12 AM

When I lived overseas in Asia, all the Singaporean friends of mine called me Ang Moh which stands for crazy white devil with red hair. It was a racial slur in a way, but they all thought that I was just plain crazy so thats why it stuck. Oh yes, and my hair is somewhat redish..

e-speedster 11-14-2007 07:58 AM

My great-great-great-grandfather, a member of the 26th South Carolina Infantry, died at the Battle of the Crater in 1864.

aj88cab 11-14-2007 10:09 AM

A - First name Andrew
J - Middle name John
88Cab - 88 Carrera Cab

Since that was so boring I'll add- Andrew was my grandfather's name, John was my father's name. Alternates that way back at least 5 generations. It's a Greek thing!

Lil Black Car 11-15-2007 02:19 AM

My girls call my car the lil black car.
The one my wife just sent me in iraq to remind me of the real lil black car.

my brother as a baby called allways called me felix for some reason. it stuck and is the name i have allways gone by.

Mad Mike 11-15-2007 06:17 AM

Named after the Movie with Mel Gibson. In High School, my friends called me Mad Mike when I was driving my Datsun B210 at the limit all the time. A want to be race car driver of sorts. Stuck with me for 21 years now!

At least we have upgraded cars from a super beater Datsun to Porsche's. However as the lot boy of my fathers used Porsche sales lot. I got to drive nearly EVERY sort of Porsche before heading off to College. One summer, my parts car was a 1976 930. Not too bad for an 17 year old with a heavy right foot.

Cheers,

Dark Skies 11-15-2007 06:21 AM

I suffer from manic depression.

Sapporo Guy 11-15-2007 04:09 PM

I didn't want to come up with a user that had 911 in it, since I figured that I be posting mainly on the P-forums and thought it would be obvious that the reason I am here is that I have a P-Car.

So, since I live in Sapporo, Japan, I thought I would come up something original!

As for my interest in Porsches, it really is pretty simple. Apparently, when I was 4, it was the first car that I could recognize. My Dad thought it was weird but I figured it out to being from having parents that are 1st generation German immigrants.

I've lived in Japan for the past 14 years and my German skill has long past but my German blood must be good for something because whenever I try to figure out WTF is going on with my car, I just think what a German would do and -- BINGO! I figured out the intermittent wiper switch location within seconds. Only, a German would think of having switches for things like door mirrors and wipers to be located in different places, especially in places some where most people would not expect.

I took me over 30 years and a divorce to get one!
If I only had really known, I would never have bothered getting married and got the 911 that much sooner!

swa911 11-15-2007 06:49 PM

Cool thread.....answered a lot of questions about some names I've seen.

SWA911
Southwest Airlines.....yes I work there and no I'm not a pilot but my employment there has allowed me to live the dream of owning a 911.

Thanks

Newsboy 11-16-2007 08:53 AM

Mine is after a Titanium mountain bike that I won 12 years ago in a magazine contest. It was modeled after the old style Newsboy delivery cruiser bike.

Yes, and it's a very small world, as the bass player (Leon Medica) has an uncle in our local PCA chapter. They're still kickin" & playing down here from time to time

tobluforu 11-16-2007 10:48 AM

I had a license plate on an old modified Datsun 510 (2bleu4u). I painted almost everything blue, and some loved it and some did not thus tobluforu. Why bleu and not blue? I'm french.
God I loved that car.

KatoKato 11-16-2007 12:47 PM

And all this time I thought it was a Scooby Doo reference!!!

DARISC 11-16-2007 01:58 PM

First two letters of each of my three names (the SC is strictly fortuitous).

sscates 11-16-2007 04:14 PM

sscates - I didn't realize the name would be listed as my screen name as well. Everywhere else it's FLTPLAN. User name for other forums and license on the 82 930. I thought it was a pretty fitting license plate for a Tea Tray Tailed car. And if anyone got jumpy about it, I could pull the "I'm a pilot" thing on them.

shoguneagle 11-17-2007 04:31 AM

Someone mentioned, "This really is an old thread", and they are right. It is so old that I have retired from two jobs plus the military. Does this make Milt really old????

Shoguneagle: Military call sign; just stuck with me all these years.

Hi Ya, "Uncle Miltie"

My user name came from my passion and job. Iam a dental technician and make porcelian teeth all day. lots of detail under a 20 power microscope. I would much rather spend the time at the track in my 911 !

Back atcha, Steve. Got that 2.7 hummin' yet?

Yeah, I'm old now. Old enough to draw SS.

kent olsen 11-17-2007 10:24 AM

Nothing original here.

Another pilot as well, for the past 37 years (cubs thru warbirds to the B-747, now the Citation X).

Al kinds of sports cars in the past up to my old 65 vette. Always wanted a Porsche and finally got my 72 10 years ago.

CanuckRS 11-17-2007 10:40 AM

Well I'm from Canuckistan and at the time I joined I was looking to purchase my first Porsche which was a RS Replica...
I would have bought it, but the owner changed his mind....

Nitrometano 11-17-2007 07:21 PM

I was reading about the nitromethanol fuel by VP Racing fuels when I suscribre at the Pelican's forum. I change the name to spanish and I eliminate the last letter "l". That's is you see Nitrometano. I choose Dart Vader for the avatar because Luke Skywalker was a looser.
