Is my ABS pump switch leaking ?

Since not getting much bite in 930 Turbo section, I decided to make another post here in this section hoping to get some feed back.

Porsche tech said I need a new ABS pump (965 Turbo) and when I looked at the pump, it does not leave any doubt in my mind that it is the switch that is leaking. I mean, just look at the black plastic below the switch? Why the service tech didn't see it, is beyond my understanding

I have two questions, is the switch screwed all the way in and second, do I need to bleed the system after changing the switch?

Thanks

Well no 930 or ABS expert here, but if the Brake Light Switch is similar to pre-89, it would just screw in 11-15 ft lbs. Has this item been replaced before?

Ironically, an independent Porsche mechanic worked on the car few months prior to this incident which included bleeding the brakes and all that? I wonder if he changed/swapped this switch/pump at the time of service?

I have the car for almost 9 years and no I have never serviced the ABS unit in my ownership.

Wait, why the tech say you needed a new pump? Is your ABS light on? Did you test the motor and the shuttle valve switch?

There was brake fluid underneath the driver side front bumper along with the red brake light sign and at times the warning buzzer coming on?

Hey Scott,

How do you test the motor and the shuttle valve switch? Is shuttle valve switch and the pressure switch the same? I am pretty sure my ABS light wasn't on or else I would have remembered it.

As far as I can remember, the brake light came on and the warning buzzer came on for few minutes? My local indy mechanic said the brake light is on probably 'coz
of the rear brake sensor ( probably need pads)?

When I start the car, the ABS pump does come on and stays on for about 30 seconds and then goes off with out any leaks.

I do have a link on Rennlist regarding the switch replacemen but is there any one here who has done it and can give some pointers?

Thanks
