What kind of filter do you use?
Ok folks,
This is not a scientific analysis of which filter is best. This is a simple poll that will hopefully utilize the collective braintrust of the technical forum to determine what is a safe and acceptable filter brand to run in our beloved machines. So, here we go. Feel free to make comments about what parent company makes filters sold under a different brand name. If you want to add a "write in" feel free to do that too.

I've always used a Mahle filter on my car and have never had a problem. Our host sells it and is usually delivered to my door the day after I order it. Why do anything else!

Mahle for me too.
I remember reading somewhere that the other brands flow in the opposite direction and people didn't know if it mattered or not, but most decided that the factory designed it that way so there must be a reason. -Rutager

Mahle here as well. When I bought my car in Oct '05, the filter that was on it was a Porsche filter, that was made in the U.S.
I saw this as a cost cutting measure on Porsche NA's part and ever since have used the Mahle, made in Austria.

If I remember right, and of course that's a big IF, the Mahle let oil enter on the opposite of how the others were set up, so it flowed through the element different than a regular filter, I was hoping someone else ether heard what I heard or would be able to say with certain that I was " full of it!" -Rutager
