R Gruppe: If you didn't have a 911...
What other pre-'74 car would you own and choose to hop-up?
My own leanings are towards a BMW 2002 with turbo flares and an early (4 cyl) M3 engine, or a 3.0 CSL...or maybe an Alfa GTV...or a 914 (which I really should finish)...or ?? Anyone care to weigh in?

1951 Wily's Overlander with rear delivery doors. Was my one of my projects that had to be sold so that the Porsche could continue. Man I loved that surf wagon.

The 914 comes to mind. Sorry, I had to say that. Actually it's the other way around for me, if I didn't have the 914, I'd get a '73 911. I shoulda kept that '77 Targa, but you guys have convinced me that the duck bill bumpers are not as cool as Jack O's car look. It's next on my list.

Carlos,
Not yet, but I hope to soon. With a 914 moving towards the track and a NA 944 also going that way, I will probably begin getting to events next year.

my choice
Steve,
i just had to let you see my choice for this one. Similar to yours in flavor: * 73 BMW 3.0 CSI (w/16" Alpina wheels & Scheel seats) * 73 BMW 2002 Tii * 69 Alfa Romeo GTV (my favorite year) * 63 Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale * 67 Austin Healey Mark 3 * 61 Abart Zagato 750 (Double Bubble) note I kept my choices to "affordable classics" one that could still be bought by average working guys like me. The BMW CSI and the GTV would be ones that I could really see owning some day (if I could ever divert my attention away from these early 911s that is) Cris Huergas R Gruppe #2 |

Cris,
Funny, but a '73 3.0 CS was in my driveway this evening. Silver/blue. I didn't even know this guy owned one. Geez...
