Help re-assembling CIS
Hello Pelicaners,
I have an 83 911SC. I blew my old airbox so I went ahead and decided to take old one out and install a new one. While I was in there I changed a few other parts (cold star valve, hoses, etc). I am putting the thing back together and there are a couple parts giving me trouble. The first one is a part the previous owner clearly installed himself. It has a volkswagen logo on it and when I looked up the number it said it was a Venturi Tube. I think I'm putting it back together as it was before but the needle-like long end is not clicking into the receiver end no matter how hard I push them together. Am I missing anything here? Here is the picture of how it stands now:  My second question is easier. I'm wondering where the end of the vacuum hose pictured below is connected to. It starts at the brass valve on the passenger side of the engine compartment.  Many thanks for any assistance you guys can provide. Cheers BN |

Second pic - on the Turbos (CIS) that small vacuum hose on the decel valve connects to a port on the throttle body (vacuum created when throttle plate is closed).

That is the vacuum line for the brakes. Not sure why PO would put a restrictor in there.

Hard to tell from picture, but looks like vacuum is split with this device? Where does it go? One to the brake MC booster. The other line goes where?

Thank you Pelicaners
As always your help was invaluable. The vacuum multiplier would not budge so I fabricated a rubber sleeve out of tubing that keeps the two halves together. The engine is humming and running perfectly. I did the whole CIS job without dropping the engine. It's not easy but doable. Thanks again to all of you. This website is a wonderful resource. BN |
