I need your advice on an imminent purchase...
I found advertising on a P car for an absolutely great bargain. I will not mention the car for now but this is the final response from the seller before I agreed with the transaction. At this moment, This transaction is in the works.
I need your advice...please read. Is this legitimate? legal experts or experienced e-bayer's please chime in. Here is her response: " Hi again, As i told you, at this moment I am in Boston in a military base, getting ready for Afghanistan. I do a special training program everyday and I am not allowed to get out of the unit or make calls whenever I want. The shipping will take 3 to 5 days depending on your location and it’s not a problem because i have considerable discount from eBay and I can do it at no cost for you. As long as I'm dealing with eBay and they can ship the vehicle anywhere in the US. I listed the car in several states because it increases my chances to get it sold much faster. I want to mention that the vehicle was inspected by eBay and fulfils the CO Emission standards from all the 50 states so it wouldn't be a problem for you to register it in your state. You will receive the car along with all the documents including title, bill of sale, 2 set of keys, full service records and more. Because it is a large transaction, we will complete the deal only using an authorized third part like eBay because I already prearranged the whole process with them, using their escrow Safe Pay Program for vehicles not listed on their website. The car is located in the eBay warehouse in MA (ready for delivery). I asked them to allow viewers to go there and inspect the car but their reply was "We are not a showroom!" In this case, I will offer a 5-day period to inspect the car from the moment you receive it, before I'll have your money. I think this is more than fair for both of us. The payment will be handled by eBay Escrow, and you will benefit of 5 days inspection time period (test drive) and the option to accept or reject the car on my expense. If you are still interested just send me your full name and shipping address. I will forward your info to eBay and they will notify you about our deal. Like this you'll be able to talk directly with them and ask all you want to know. Regards!! Senior Medic Sgt. 1st Class (name erased) Will my money be safe until I give the consent that I'm keeping the car? ( I have little experience with E-bay escrow transactions) thank you for your input in advance Carl

This is a scam. There is no Ebay Escrow service. That service is fake and your money will be gone.
Please look this up with a google search if you need more info. Remember, if a deal is too good to be true, it usually is. G |

This type of scam is very common. The sellers are always posing as military members on a boat, sub, in afghanistan etc. to explain why they are not availalble. The cars are always extra cheap to get the buyers to bite and follow through quickly, hoping to get a great deal before anyone else does. Ebay has no warehouses, escrow services etc. That's all fake.
Hope this wasn't too late. If you have any payment going, cancel immediately. G |

I just Googled “eBay Escrow” … big time SCAMS.
Lead ‘em on and catch them in a criminal act, mail fraud, interstate transport, etc. Put them in jail. Best, Grady

Wasn't there a similar thread about this particular scam recently? Didn't the poster start asking for very particular information over and over, just to watch the criminal squirm? Fkn hilarious. Almost as bad as the Nigerian scams.

you don't need to read past the first 2 or 3 sentences to know it's a scam.

Ebay and Paypal is a f**cking scam. Never sell anything on Ebay! Ebay caters to buyers not sellers. So scammers can legally buy a product and then say it's not what was advertised. Then they contact ebay and paypal gives them their money back out of YOUR account. They also have your product that you will never get back. So if it's a car or say a $10,000 generator, you're out $20,000. WALK AWAY FROM EBAY! Craigslist is a free market and it works. Use it!
I also agree that this person is a scammer. I've read this email many many times.

Or better yet, not at all. There are many, many cars out there from legitimate sellers.

Really? Proceed? Carl, seriously, walk away... depending on what you have already given this scammer in regards to your personal info, start damage control.
