Window Regulator differences - early/late 1986
Does anyone know the difference between the "Early '86" and "Late '86" electric window regulators our hosts offer? I don't know which my car qualifies for and can't tell the difference from the info available on the site and just looking at mine.
Thanks! Rob |

I'm not 100% positive but I think that '86 was the year that they switched to the "sizzzor type" regulator vs. the early parallel arm regulator.
The only way to tell on your car is to remove the door panel and you will see what style you have. Also, on the pelican site, they have a link related to installing the later style from the early - this factory bulliten has a picture of each type and you can clearly see the difference. When you look at yours, compaired to the photo, you will know what you have. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 911-542-936-28-OEM Also, the later style has a slightly smaller motor - I think this is due to the sizzor type having better leverage and not needing as much hp to operate. |

Thanks Tidybuoy; on the electric side they actually show two types of scissor types subsequent to the parallel arm type but it is not immediately apparent what the differences are; I will take my door apart to figure it out as you suggest......thanks for the reply.

Also, the PET catalog shows a different regulator for the "Speedster", this is probably due to a shorter window but I'm just guessing.
