rear glass antenna
If I recall, this is an old cellphone antenna which has a base plate glued to the exterior rear glass, and a support plate glued to the interior glass.
PO left the base plate without the lead antenna. I have two choices: 1. Retain the retro look and source out the actual antenna screwed on the base. 2. Remove it but how do I take the glue out from the interior and exterior glass. Im afraid it might damage the defogger or there is a hole if I take that part out. With the permission from the owner, below is the one i'm looking for encircled in red. ![]() Your thoughts

In my 83 SC, I just pulled it off --- outside piece and inside piece. No glue residue, marks or damage to glass or defroster. I used a plastic interior panel removal tool. Slowly and gently.

Could be the this one listed on ebay! Anybody has one? I just need the whip to screw on the base plate

I think the thread in the screw base are all the same. I have the exact same issue you have with my car.
What about trying this one?

So now I just need to decide what option I will take. Do you think I shall buy the whip or just take it out?
I believe it cosmetically adds to the retro look. Your thoughts

It's not aero... I like clean lines so I'd get rid of it.

Since it will be non-functional...What is the point. I had one on my 72 911 but it was hooked to one of those old style box car phones. Also had a magnet CB antenna that blew off at 90 + racing an old 55 Chevy hotrod somewhere in Nebraska late one night. Shades of James Taylor in "Two Lane Blacktop"

Most of these antennas were of the "capacitance" type...meaning there is a plate on the inside of the glass and one on the outside but NO hole through the glass.
Removing it should just be softening the glue (heat? .. MEK?) and prying off the plates. Bob

I don't have a picture but on mine, I found a short 1 inch door lock knob that fit perfectly and looks like a short antenna stub (kind of on the same principal as the shark antenna on BMW's).
