CIS re-install question
Guys I am putting the CIS back in my car to get it back on the road after too many years sitting!!
Couple questions 1- on the bottom of the air box, on the right side (when it is in the car, looking from the rear) right beside where the 4,5,6, intake runners attach, there is a large threaded opening. There is nothing there, but it looks like there was a bolt or something and there is a sealant of some sort. DO you remember what attaches there? I am scratching my head and can't figure it out. 2- What is the best way to drain all the fuel so I can start with new fuel. The fuel in it is probably minimum 8 years old ![]() Thanks

Another question
Where do all vacuum lines go from the "throttle body" There are two "holes" on the front of it (closest to rear of vehicle) One is suppose to go to the distrbutor but my distributor has a plug on the vacuumport. SHould it be hooked up, and where does the other one go? Ont the rear of it there are two more small vacuum lines. One of these goes to the warm up regulator. Where does other go? Thanks

Shawn,
For the large threaded opening, I think you are describing the spot where the EGR valve hooks up. |

The large threaded hole on the driver side is for the vacuum line to brake booster.
Top vacuum at rear of car is to top of wur, bottom to vacuum advance. Plug it. Back of TB, one to wur, other to idle speed control valve. Best guesses without year of car. Check jim's basement website for good drawings. CIS Primer for the Porsche 911 Re-read description, that hole is plugged on my '78. I was thinking of the left side threaded hole. Sorry about that. I still think the spot he is describing is the EGR valve mount, a 77 CIS has no accomodation for boosted brakes. My 76 certainly did not.

My 77 has a brake booster. I'm not sure, but I think 77 might have been the first year. Anyone know for sure?

If it really is on the right hand side between #5 and #6 it is a plugged hole with a rubber plug in it, potentially with some extra sealant. Nothing attaches to it.
The vacuum for the brake booster if present is on the left side between # 2 and 3. If you have no brake booster then that whole will be plugged in the same manner. Michel

1977 was the first year for the brake booster.

I just installed a new air box and it to had the threaded port on the right hand side. Fortunately I still had the one I took off and it did NOT have this port so I just got a rubber grommet and screwed it in the port with some silicon. Works great. Mine is a 1983 Targa with 3.0
