Ok... How many Steve Wong Chip users are out there?
I'm considering one and want to know if this is one of those "it's awesome when I read about it but I personally can't feel a difference". Subjective, I know. It seems like a great modification. Comments? Is it worth it to you? Thanks

I noticed a significant difference immediately. The car is smoother in the mid-range, and has more on top.

SW Chip
If you like more MPG,Quicker throttle response and a little extra HP go for the SW Chip.
Otherwise stay with what you have ; ) |
I even went to a Porsche specialty shop in Michigan, and the mechanic there said "You need a Wong chip".
That pretty much sold me on the chip.... |
Makes an improvement for sure. I am not going to tell you its like putting a turbo on your car, but my car ran and idled much smoother after the install, and did notice probably about 10% more power. But I really like how much smoother the engine runs!

One of the best purchases for my 3.2

cat delete & wong chip on my 3.2. When I swapped to stock chip and cat for smog check, the car felt lethargic in comparison.

Dude, search and you will be overwhelmed with positive reviews!

My cars got a receipt for install of a WM Chip. I'm assuming this is a Weltmeister but haven't taken out the box yet to confirm. I'm only going through the effort of taking the box apart if I would be convinced that it's worth the money to upgrade to the Wong Chip over a Weltmeister. If not, I'm not going to touch it.
From what I've read on here, it's pretty well known that the Wong chip is the way to go. But for my purposes I'm leaning to leaving it with the second rate chip which is still better than stock. |

Not only does it give a marked improvement in driveability but steve backs up what he sells and gives great cust service , called him one day to ask a question hoping to leave a message and he answered his phone ON A SATURDAY , i told him i would call him back but he insisted and answered my question . very professional and knowledgeable . He will also re-chip for a nominal fee if you make modifications to your car.

In the Porsche Owner's Club, just about every new race motor in V3, V4, and JP go to the dyno with Steve Wong before it's first race, certainly with the Aase guys. It's the first upgrade I do to a car.
I bought a 3.2 liter motor three years ago and brought SW to the dyno with me. The first run was 202 HP. When we left it was 226. That took a couple changes in exhaust configuration, but he had me to 218 with just his fingers on the keyboard. |
I'll echo the thumbs up; very pleased. I went from the original chip to using a Weltmesiter for a number of years, and switched to Steve's chip almost 2 years ago. Performance (as measured in lap times) saw a definite improvement, I had no issues passing smog with it installed, and rough idle issues that I sometimes saw with the Weltmeister have been non-existent with Steve's chip. So while there's always a YMMV sort of thing to anything like this, it seems like a well developed product with alot of care taken to get things right and I'd consider myself a fan based on my experience with the product.

It works. Make sure the throttle is fully opened and the brown wire pin is disconnected.
|
Well that is a lot of convincing statements! Thank you!

It's a no-brainer. Great product and great support.

I live in LA, Steve does too. I brought my car to his place on a Sunday morning and he and I blasted up and down the 101 freeway on an early Sunday morning. He plugged his laptop into my car and data logged it. He then burned a chip for MY ROW with a cat with 91 octane CA gasoline. It helps the mid range lulls a lot. It also passes CA smog. When I first bought the car my brother drove it, a year or so later with the SW chip he drove it again and he said "Did you tune this thing up or what". Its not like night and day, but its a definite improvement. Worth every penny.

Apparently all of you Steve Wing fans have bought into a myth and only think you feel a difference. Look here:
