Teach me to rebuild

Getting my 72 back from paint soon. Top end rebuild might be in my future. Do you think a mechanic will rebuild my motor....and allow me to help/obseve/learn? I know very little. Sort of like those fantasy baseball camps where you play with past pros.

I'm in Detroit area if you know anyone or want to do it for me...

Cheers
Ps- new pics coming soon. Sepia Brown beauty.

Why not get Wayne's 911 engine rebuild book. Educate yourself and then if a mechanic lets you watch etc you will know what you are looking at. If the mechanic of your choice won't let you observe you will know what to expect. It is a very informative book. Sold by pelican. The more you learn about these cars the more fun they are. You may even evolve into a big diy guy. And the old longhoods we have are comparatively simple. Enjoy.

Yes to Wayne's book. But read it twice before you start. Take pic along the way. Digital cameras are very nice for the "what was that for" along the way.

Wayne captures everything you need to know. And you can get a few "neat" tools from our host.

And ask any question you have on the board. I have run into a few unique situations that were always solved by member that are more knowledgeable than I am.

BTW, I am in Kazoo, MI. I probably can't get to help in person, but I can try to help across the state.

Finally, in the end, if you do it, you will be a part of it.
