Euromeister Fitment

Hi Guys, I have serached and read every article with the word euromesiter in it and now I am just confused. I have an 86 coupe with 16 inch 6's in teh front and 16 inch 7's in the back. They are original fuchs but are in rough shape to say the least. I was lookingh at the eurmesiter and that got me thinking. My question is: can I buy 16 inch 7's for the front and 16 inch 9's for the back and fit them without fender rolling etc. In other words, can I just by them and mount them without any concern. This is a daily driver as well. Would I be better off with 8's in the back or 9's for handling etc.. Thanks. If you have opinions on tire sizes for these that would be great too

The Euromeister wheel is a direct bolt on - word of warning though.... these are cast wheels and quite a bit heavier than the factory wheel. That said factory wheels are getting a little long in the tooth and most have been tracked. If JUST for a daily driver (no track use) - I would use and have thought of using euromeister 7 and 8 ... Remember as well that 16 inch rubber is getting more and more difficult to find which also poses a problem. So choice is yours.

Also a purist will sh** at the site of a fake wheel.

My understanding is that one can run 7's and 9's on an otherwise unmodified "narrow" (i.e. non-turbo) SC or Carrera. Tires would be 205 and 245 section width respectively. The PO of my car ran replica 7's and 9's to preserve the original Fuchs for me

Cheers

My .02:

Buy a set of 16 x 7's and 8's with 205/55 front and 225/50 or, if you can find a set, 245/45.

9's WILL work with 245 but that size is getting hard to find.

8's would give you the option of the 2 sizes.

Here's my replicas on Sumitomo HTRz 205/55 and 245/45. I also have a .25 spacer in the rear to bring the rears out to the fender lips.

Wayne,
Do you get any rubbing in the back? I'm looking to push out my rears, but do not know how much.
Also, might consider the replicas. I'm not crazy about the original "white gold" Fuchs that came from the factory, but I don't want to paint them because they are in great shape for 25 years old. I'll just keep them for posterity and run black replicas. Any opinions?

No rubbing at all.

I think your wheels look great. I wouldn't change them. They really set your car apart from other black ones.

My buddy ran euromeister 7&9's on his black sc, and the look and fit was perfect. I believe that he was at euro ride height, and had no issues with rubbing. 245 45 16 in the rear . That size is getting real hard to find. My 951 runs them in the rear, and I had to to some real shopping to find a set.

what an awesome Silhouette

thanks for reminding me why I love the lines of these cars.

I think the gold wheels work well on your car.

I was just thinking "that's not such a great deal" when I looked closer and saw it included rubber as well. Wow...

On a side note, I have been using Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's this last go around in stock 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 sizes. No track use, but seem fine for the street so far. Had them about 4 months now.

Finish Product...

Amazing what a $9 spray paint can will do. The center and lug nut were black

Front 7x17 Et 23 (16.5 Lb), 80mm spacer/adapter combo with 205/50 R17

Rear 9x17 Et 15 (18 Lb), 70mm spacer/adpter combo with 255/40 R17

The tire were the same on my Cup wheel so no change size wise

When fitting wheels and tires the manufacturer has nothing to do w/ it.

You need to know th width and ET(offset) of the wheel and the width, aspect ratio and wheel size of the tires, that's all.

For an SC/Carrera body car oe fitment is a good start, 7ET23.3 & 8ET10.6 x15 w/ 205/50 and 225/50 tires was used on early Carreras and fits great at any ride height.

in front 7ET 23.3 x16 w/ 205/55 x16 tires is taller and will run into issues on lowered car, so to gain room at the lips, you shave them and/or use a 7 ET25-30 wheel. These wheels are o/s more inboard so provide more lip room. W/ these higher o/s wheels you can easily use up to an 8" wheel, w/ an 8 ET30 is better than an ET25 and a 225/45 x17 or 18 tire

in back 8ET10.6 w/ 225/50 x15 tire was an oe fit w/ a lot of room for more wheel and tire, 9x16ET15 w/ 245/45 was never an oe fitment but it's obvious that the engineers intended it to be and only the bean counters prevented it. 9ET15 x17 w/ 255/40 tire is an equally good fit.

IMO, If you want an easy fitment 225/45 on 8ET30 and 255/40 on 9ET15 is the way to go for 17s, 225/45 on 8ET30 and 245/45 x16 on 9 ET15 is the way to go for 16s, In front 7ET23.3 w/ 205/55 x16 or 7ET23.3 W/ 205/50 x17 could be substituted in front w/ some minor degradation of ultimate handling

For narrow body, '69-77, 7E23.3 all around, w/ 205/45 x17 is a great choice, slightly taller than the shortest commonly used tire 205/50x15 but still shorter than the equally common 205/60 x15

If you want to experiment w/ differential widths, use those same 7" wheels w/ 205/45 front and 225/40 rear(if you can find any)
