Oil Drain to replace Left Cam Line? Valence Fixing?

My 911 SC is up on jacks as I work on acquiring new wheels, so I have lots of time to work on other things (because I'm not off driving the country-side).

Chief is replacing the left cam line leak. I've got carrera tensioners, so I ordered the appropriate line from our host and the necessary washers. I did an oil change just 1K miles back - will I have to drain the oil to change the left line? Can I drain just the engine oil, and not the oil tank? I'm going to need to remove the distributor. I have a timing light, will it be tough to reinstall the distributor?

The front valence is also a little banged up from PPO's very low ride height. Its a little bent, but not obvious, and has some golf-ball sized bare spots where the paint is gone. I've also got a chin spoiler below that. How hard is it to remove the valence? I'd like to straighten it out and coat it with something to prevent rust. Its been in the South for a long time, but I don't think Milwaukee will be as forgiving to bare metal.

No need to drain oil to replace the cam line.
R&R dizzy is simple if you line everything up by rotating the engine first.
Get the rotor pointing to cylinder 1 firing position. (theres a little divot mark on the distributor rim for an indicator).
Ensure the Z1 crank timing marks are lined up with bottom of fan housing mark as well.
Mark the position of the dizzy adjustment bolt on both sides with a sharpie.
(Take pictures before pulling)
Remove bolt and pull it straight out. (Rotor will rotate a little due to gears)
Do not rotate the engine at all while dizzy is out.
Re-install dizzy ensuring rotor ends up in exact same position with hold down bolt in place. (Easy to be out a tooth so check!)
When you put it back in and everything is in the same alignment, you probably won't need to time it, but probably should do it to check.

Front Valence comes off, but for minor damage I'd lift the front end, slide under there and use a hammer and dolley to repair. Then spray it with choice of paint masking off the areas that don't want or need paint.

+1 - leave the oil in

and if you have a good set of tools you CAN get to that thing without removing the dizzy, I did

but its easier if you move that outta the way....

Got everything lined up and took off the bolt that controls distributor rotation. I removed the distributor cap. However I can't get the distributor to pull out. Am I missing some other bolt?

Hmm, I should probably make a new thread for this specific issue.
