Can't pull Distributor Out!
I'm ready to replace my oil line, and I've lined up the engine, removed the dizzy adjustment bolt, and taken off the cap. But I can't seem to pull the distributor out. Am I missing another bolt, or do I just need to pull harder?

You need to pull harder, a lot harder!
I ran into this problem a couple of weeks ago with a 964. The dual distributor felt like it was welded into the case. In the end using constant pressure from a pry bar on either side of the distributor made it pop out. I also wrapped a strap around it and had a friend pull on the strap for additional leverage.

Yikes. Sounds like I may need a new O-ring for it afterwards... my wheel spacers will be in this weekend and I want to be driving again! I hope I don't have to wait on an oring as well.

Some hard yanking did it! Of course I scraped some skin off again, but that's par for the course. Maybe I should get some mechanics gloves. Thanks for the help!

I think I had to pry a little all around the edges (wonder bar - a tiny crow bar) with a touch of horizontal force before pulling straight back and pulling it.
I've done this twice, well three times but even though I had it on Z1 (a must), I somehow was 180 degrees out of phase the second time I pulled it. Just would not start, and gave a little backfire. The first time it was stubborn, but no problem the other two times. I could not get the right seal locally or from Pelican, got the right O-Ring from another on-line source.

Getting this sucker back in is harder than getting it out!
I've twisted and pushed, but it won't seem to get back in the last 3/8 inch!

Got it! I placed the dizzy cap on the dizzy so that I had a way to apply even force. Then I put my shop towel over the end of the dizzy cap and tapped lightly with a hammer. It slowly worked in the last bit! Now to put it back together and see if it runs.... (fingers crossed)

Runs great, and has a shiny new oil line. Now we'll see if its oil leakage is reduced.
Thanks for the tips!
