Rear window wiper motor need electrical help
My rear window wiper motor works but does not park. Can someone help me understand how it should work?
The connections on a 83 sc are at the motor 53 Black/red 31 brown 31 brown white 53a Red So far all is good. So why does it work but does not self park? I have cleaned the brushes and the copper. No joy. Fuse in engine is fine. If I look at 53a it gets red (constant hot?) but the tab does not touch anything in the engine. I am confused. ![]()

I will answer my own post.
If your rear wiper does run but not self park even after you have checked all the wiring (at motor and switch) the small pin inside the motor is to blame. When the motor runs it pushes every revolution a small pin up which makes or brakes the connection that is indicated in the photo. In my case this pin was seized. I have drilled it out with a 3.2mm drill but a 3.1 would have been better. Anyway once that is done you will notice that the contacts open and close every revolution. The little motor is very easy to dismantle. Apart from the seized pin it looked bright new after 30 years... Michel
