Anyone feel guilty driving their 3.2 in the rain?

Got my first 911 after many years of looking. It's in much better shape than I thought I would ever find but I also want to drive it as much as I can (no garage queens for me). I drive it to work on the nice mornings but here in the south you can never predict the afternoon thunderstorms that pop up.

So, does anyone here feel bad having to drive their nice 911's in the rain?

No worries about the rain itself but I'm concerned how it affects the folks who's driving skills are maxed out on a normal day. This town sure seems to have a lot of these...

No problem other than the other South Florida drivers
(?, not sure if you can call them that...perhaps a better word would be IDIOTS)

Nope. Apparently I'm not made of sugar and nor is my car.

However, I am now a bit more wary of sky is falling, inch a minute thunderstorm rain after an incident I had a couple days ago. Normal rain is not an issue for me. Rain washes off.

You'll notice that they do come equipped with windscreen wipers. Some even have a wiper on the rear window. The Targas have (very expensive) seals to keep water out. And it does rain regularly in Germany. True guilt should be felt by those who keep their cars hidden away in garages in case something untoward should happen to them These cars were made to be driven. In all conditions.

Ok, I don't feel so bad now... apparently the "newness" hasn't quite worn off on me yet.

I did happen to let me son eat a small bag of Cheerios in the back seat today.... anything liquid or greasy is a huge no-no.

as for rain driving skills - hit some autoX's or cvar control clinics during the winter months - that should resolve the lack of skills pretty quickly in a fairly safe and low speed enviornment

I would rather drive the 911 than another car in the rain BECAUSE I have feedback of what's going on (hydroplane or slipping type events) and it responds well to inputs

I know exactly how you feel. I was the same way when I got mine. Now snow and salt are another story.

Enjoy the new ride. It gets better with each passwing year.

We get a lot of pop up thunderstorms in Northern Virginia. So I drive my '86 Cab in heavy rain quite a bit. I do make it a point to spray the fenders inside with clear water when ever I wash the car to make sure I get all the dirt out. You don't want to have dirt and mud build up behind the fenders.

I hit a major thunderstorm a couple days ago. It was one of those monsoon deluge types that causes sheets of standing water on the highway. And I was driving a bit too fast for the conditions at about 65 mph. Then, when the car started to get squirrelly, without thinking, I committed the cardinal sin and let off the gas. You can probably guess where this is going: rear end comes around and nothing I did changed a damn thing.

Long story short, I nearly crapped myself when I hit the median in a spin on a six lane highway in long weekend traffic. I ended up in the lane going the other way, facing the wrong direction. No damage to me or anyone else and my car only suffered a bent rear valence after hitting a clump of dirt.

It turns out my normally great in the wet tires had much more wear than I thought. Check your tires if you drive in the rain a lot. In my case, a bit of over confidence, not paying attention, new pavement and being in a hurry almost caused a tragedy.

I thanked my lucky stars that nothing bad happened, and bought a lottery ticket when I got home. If only all life's lessons ended with this few consequences...

I drive rain or shine but I will definately wash the car before going out in the rain - it looks so purty when the water beads up on a nice clean car.
