DROPPING OIL Dipstick IN THE TANK

hello

I dropped my oil dipstick into the oil tank ? what should I do ? Should i get my car to the mechanic to get it out from my oil tank or should i keep it inside and by another new one ?

If i keep it inside the oil tank is it going to damage my engine ???

any one have this experience before ??

Thanks

I've done the same thing. Don't worry about it... Buy a new one.

Get it out next time you have the oil tank out for service. It's not a big job.
You could remove the tank from your car in less than an hour.
While it's out you could clean, strip and repaint it. If it hasn't been touched it probably needs that anyway. Make sure you tape up the holes before you start any cleaning/stripping.
Just be careful when removing the large oil lines. Use good spanners and think about what you're doing and you can't go wrong.

Fish it out yourself... Btw magnet does not work

Should i get my car to the mechanic to get it out from my oil tank or should i keep it inside and by another new one ?

No for the mechanic unless you don't care about your money, yes it can stay there and if you can not fish it out buy another one.

If i keep it inside the oil tank is it going to damage my engine ???

No but it may hinder the oil level guage witch should not be rely upon anyway.

any one have this experience before ??

Yes and its probably a large "silent" club.

Thanks

Bienvenue

Grab a coat hanget, flatten the shoulder part out, and stick it in there. 15 sec's later it'll be out. Not that I've ever done that or anything.

The motor is ruined. Sell the car to me before it explodes.

Buy another one and wait until you've got time and good weather to go fishin.

I might try to fish it out one day.

Just leave it in there.
I had on that was ferrous but the real ones aren't, no go on the magnet. It really won't hurt anything.

Try to fish it out. Obviously others have had very good success doing this. You never know, you might find more than one in there! I've honestly heard of people finding multiple "lost" dipsticks in their tanks.......
