Radio antennae question

This is as far down as I can get the radio antennae to go. Shouldn't it go down all the way? If so, any hints on how to get it unstuck? I've tried wd-40 and tapping it lightly with a mallet.

It should go down all the way...I had the same problem, used a lot of WD40 (and mallett) with no results (to tell the truth I ended up by breaking the old one...).
I bought in Germany (Koenigs Klassik-Radios) a new original antenna, they are apparently available again.

Pull it all the way up....you'll prolly find a kink that is keeping from total collapse. Manual antennas are cheap. Replace it.

Apparently, the correct antenna that will fit is difficult to find. Trying to change the manual antenna like you have is very difficult. You might have to remove your door, unless you have tiny hands.

Tried pulling it all the way up. Several times.

Didn't work.

As for replacing it, I am heeding the post immediately above for now.

That antenna is not cheap if you can find it. I believe this one will work it's chrome, but you have to reuse you hardware and It's not sold at this site.

I happen to have my car in a shop right now replacing the antenna. They are awaiting the correct parts and it has taken a few days to get them. My antenna on my 81 911 looks exactly like yours.

The right antenna is a Hirschmann Auta 4000 M 805.It`s very expensive, it costs in Europe 125(!) Euros... And yes, unfortunately you have to remove the door.

That one is a cheap version very flimsy and much shorter. It`s also a Hirschmann but it has really nothing to do with the original.I know this for sure because I bought it sometime ago as the original one was not available.
