new paint job ideas requested - NFS initial idea

PPBB'ers,
I'm currently trying to come up with some ideas for paint schemes for my re-paint. I'd like to keep the white/ivory white base. This is what I'm "Driving" in Need for Speed - Porsche Unleashed and thought "Wouldn't it be cool to have it in real life?".

Two questions :
1) Was this actually used in the early 70's? who? when? I'd be able to say that it was a "historic" replica, rather than a boy racer look.

2) Anybody have any cool ideas for early 911 race car paint schemes they'd like to submit? I'd love to get some other ideas.

Regards,
Rick

I don't know about the paint themes, stock and the carrera strip looks pretty dang good to me, but on the same subject check out "Sports Car GT" by EA. A very underated game. It has an excellent physics engine, decent graphics(turn off the rear view mirror frame) and most of the great tracks.

I have always thought race cars were too dull, so here is what mine looks like....it is based on a MARTINI-ROSSI Paris Dakkar rally car, they used red and blue, I did not as you can see. but let me say the level of effort to get this was much greater than I expected,it took about a week of taping and sanding and painting.

I have since changed the numbers to a green and purple in a better font, see the last photo...

I say go bold, it is a race car after all....

AddictionMS,
NICE!!! That is an terrific paint scheme. I was going to go bold but not having much imagination I'm soliciting ideas, from folks like you and cars like yours. I love the colors.

What are the specs on that car?

Rick

I started with a 1968 chassis (big mistake because of the SWB) and have converted over to a long wheelbase, running a 1988 Carrera rear suspension with 31mm torsion bar and a 27mm sway bar, with bilstein shocks revalved by smart racing products, 1988 930 brakes. The front is a 1988 930 suspension complete, but 23mm torsion bars and 31mm sway bars. I have a stock 3.2 out of an 1988 Carrera, and a 915 trani with LSD. There is a 10pt cage, 27g fuelcell, relocated oil tank to smugglers box, and RS flares. Misc stuff, 23mm brake master, solid mounts for engine and trani, apex shifter coupler, robotek shifter mod, halon system, kirkey roadrace seat, eliminated the rear seats and the shock towers, added rollcage to replace the shock tower, and put in an aluminum shroud to replace the rear seats.

I built the car to meet the specs(well kind of anyway ) of a new series started here in a NCAL called the Toyo Cup Challenge, check out this link to see the details and the pictures of the other cars. So far it has been a blast....

thats about all I can think of now...
