SC brake calipers

I have a 1969 912 that I am constructing a 911 RS. I am replacing the complete fron suspinspion with one from a 1974 911 S. They have the 3.5 bolt spacing.I have everything but the brake calipers. In the interest of saving money(the S calipers are expensive) would the SC calipers work on these struts and would they be as good. The car will not be raced just street

You need A calipers to fit 3.5 inch spacing. I think those started on the Carreras, but maybe the SCs had them as well. You don't want M calipers.

I have a set from an 87 Carrera that gave 3.5 spacing. I have all four. PM me if interested.

Not all Carreras had 3.5 spacing, many of the Boge struts came at 3"

He'll need to have the Carrera proportioning valve if he uses the rears.

As I recall the only difference in the front SC and the Carerra's are a wider spacer. The pistons are the same but you can use the thicker rotors.

Yes, the aluminum S and iron A calipers have the same 3.5" mounts, As were used from '76 Carrera til '83SC, then from '84 the wider version of the A was used.

If you are using the '69-83 20mm front rotor you use the S or A front caliper. If you want you can also use the '84-89 wide A caliper but you also need to use the 24mm '84 -89 front rotors w/ them.

Do not use the '84-89 Carrera rears, these have pistons that are too big for most users to comfortably employ.
