Another quarter window weather-stripping question

I am trying to install the weather-stripping on the rear quarter windows on my ’71 911E. I’ve searched the forum and see a lot of folks having difficulty installing it. I had a little difficulty at first but once I lubed it with a little silicon spray, I installed it with no problem. The only problem that I see is that the weather-stripping seems to come off to easy. So I’m wondering if I installed it incorrectly. The fit looks look but I think once I reinstall the window, closing it will push the gasket off. Is the silicone spray too slick, do I have a bad weather-strip or have I not installed it correctly? I have not seen anywhere that people used an adhesive.

Chris, you will find the the silicon spray will dry out some. The seal I assume is rolling off with you hand? I had the same problem.

When you fit them you'll find that they get trapped by the frame at the front, so won't roll.

I fitted mine and closed them with the latch, for a week or so, before trying to open them again, without any problems.

Thanks for the feed back. Did you have to trim your weather-stripping at all? The a couple of areas that don't match up with the old weather-stripping. Also the new weather-stripping has ripples on portions of it. Don't know how to get them out. The first two images are the new weather-stripping and the third is the old.

Chris, the seal is pretty generic, I found the same differences with the new trim, but you won't notice it once it's in.

Same with the ripples, once it's installed it should relax.
