SC - Idle Problem At (Warm) Startup

My 1982 SC has recently developed a problem after recieving a valve adjustment and tune up. The car starts with no problem, however when it is shut off and re-started when warm the idle immediately begins to oscilate from 500RPM to 1,500. The RPM continues to rapidly rise and fall for approximately 30 seconds (which seems like roughly one hour when you are sitting in the car), and then smoothes out. "Blipping" the throttle lightly has little effect. The car is running really well, however as I have "converted" from the vintage V-8 world fairly recently and am attempting to learn CIS, this one has me stumped.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Lindy

Hi Lindy, I just give my SC a little bit of gas and bring the revs up to about 1,500 and that seems to stop the oscilations. Bill

I had this exact problem at one time, and it turned out that my vacuum hose routing was incorrect. A so-called "expert" worked on the car 3 times, yet it took me, along with advice from this board, to figure it out and fix it........

Was the sensor plate adjusted during the tune-up?

The sensor plate was not touched. Essentially the car was given a basic tune up and valve adjustment only (I had already replaced the fuel filter, plug wires and plugs).
