I would like to relate a good experience with the Pertronix Ignitor.
I have had to fiddle with my car constantly over the last 20 months I've had it. I would set the points, the cam follower would wear down, the gap would change, and the car would run poorly, expecially at high rpms. Then I would have to reset everything again. Since I replaced the points with this electronic unit, the car has run better than it has at any point since I've had it. Installation was fairly easy as well and I'm not in a constant battle with the feeler gauge and screwdriver. My 1 cent (haven't had the car long enough to have 2 cents worth of advice). That is good news that you have had a good experience with them. I have never had any problems with my distributor using OEM Bosch points and keeping the distributor cam lubricated with Bosch grease. Yours may have become pitted due to rust over the years due to neglect by a previous owner!
