915 hybrid build need help
915 hybrid build.
Here is the picture, the left hand is a half 915/67, the right hand is a 915/02. As you can see the 915/67 is only left a few parts, if I move 915/02 gear and cover into 915/67, not remove the ring gear and pinion shaft, did I still get 8:31 ratio? My tech man is doing it right now, is there any tip I should let him notice? The trans will put into my 73 911E with87 3.3 turbo or 89 3.2 engine. Hope hear from you guys. ![]() |

The 915/67 has a stronger input shaft so that should end up in the tranny. What is the goal? Track car? If so, the 915/67 has a taller 4th gear than US version and not as good for the track, but better for highway cruising. The fifth gear which is missing is supposed to be a ZD/T (0.76 ratio), better for cruising, not great for track. My trans is a 915/67 and I removed the ZD/T 5th gear and it is available if you want to make it correct.

Hi Porsche84
Thanks for the tip, the trans will not go for track, street only. I think my tech may remove all the mission parts from the 915/02.. Should I correct the 5 gear? Or just use gear from 915/02? Thanks Last edited by vinyl_tien; 08-14-2012 at 04:15 AM.. |

Actually, the real early 915's had tall 4th and 5th gears. I'm not sure what was in the 915/02. I'm sure someone will offer the information. My data shows early 915's to have a 29/22 which is essentially the same ratio as what what the /67 had. So, you might be good with what you have. You'll know when you pull off the nose piece of the /02. Does the /67 still have the external oil cooler? That would be nice.

Thanks for the tip.
I got the trans without cooler line. But the pump device should be in there(have not check it yet), I think I will get a small cooler for it. |

Does the center case and the diff cover have the holes drilled for the cooler? These might have been swapped out as they are pretty valuable.
