When is Bluetooth not Bluetooth
The Contour GPS advertises Bluetooth connectivity as a viewer with the purchase of a additional card. BUT....it advises that it's only be be compatible with an IPOD Touch or IPhone.
I have a laptop that Bluetooth capable AND it talks to my Samsung cell phone.....what blocks this particular add on card? EDIT: Sorry, thought I was in OT....please move or ignore.

I don't know, but it is worth noting that Bluetooth Media and Bluetooth Phone headset are two different functions. I bought a deck compatible with Bluetooth and didn't realize they didn't enable media playing over bluetooth, so I need a cable to play music from my phone, but yet I can use Bluetooth for phone calls.
I suspect it is software functionality that is shut off, so they can charge more for a different deck. I would guess your problem is also some business decision with the root of the issue at the $. Frustrating, I know. Doug

the basic bt is for phone calls only. if you want to stream media the receiver (head unit, gps, whatever) and the device with the media (phone) have to have A2DP. similarly if you want stereo they both have to support it as A2dp can run in mono or stereo. not all USB2 devices are compatible. for example the kenwood excelon X99 series has A2DP but the X89 series has every feature BUT A2DP.
