My week end projects

I received my Autopower roll bar last week and found installation was very straight forward. Excellent fit, good quality welds, and good paint finish. Total installation took about 3 1/2 hours, 4 1/2 with the harnesses.

I also received Sherwood's gate shifter thingie in the mail on Saturday. Notice the subtle hint sticking out of the boot. Overall time took about 1 1/2 hours. Only took it for a short drive through the gears, but there is a clear and distinct feel between 1-2, 3-4, and 5 & R. Well worth the time and money for the install. I'll get a better feel at the upcomming California Speedway DE event on June 16. And no, the floor mat is not brown. The photo just turned out that way.

Shawn,
The gate shifter set me back about $156, including shipping. I added to my existing Weltmeister short shifter. Driving to work I was able to put it more to the test. Making the transitions from 5th to 4th seemed effortless and worry free. The tension it takes to engage first and second gears means the shifiter is "gated" to move into 4th when down shifiting from 5th. At low RPMs, I tried some "sloppy" shifting to see if I could accidentually shift from 5th to 2nd, and 3rd to 1st using ordinary shifiting pressure. I couldn't. I think it would really take some effort to go from 5th to 2nd with this devise. A real test is necessary, however, such as being in the heat of the moment at Willow Springs entering turn 1 at 125+ and down shifiting to 4th.

You wouldn't have to have it exposed through the boot. However, the spring tension devise does get a little more pressure from the boot, so I opted to provide a relief slit in the boot.
