Post sway bars

I drive my '72 911 some on the street, to the track, DE, autocross, and perhaps eventually Club Race. I have added 21F and 27R torsion bars, Koni Sport shocks, and Yoko A032R 205/55-16 tires on 16x7 rims. My plan is to upgrade anti-sway bars next (I currently have (stock) 15mm F&R). In general, I have read that "you get what you pay for", but what specifically is the downside to Weltmeister? I want something of high quality, but there is no need for something that my abilities or car will never appreciate. Also, based on your experience, what sizes are recommended? 22mm seems like a big jump from 15 - does the range of adjustability cover everything in between? I would appreciate any thoughts on the brand or size I should be considering. Thanks.

These are good questions. I need swaybars myself on my '73. I dont have answers, just giving a boost back to top of board.

I put 22 mm Weltmeister (front and rear) sway bars on my 76. Overall I was satisfied. I think the 22 mm in the rear might have been a little two big.

One comment I do have is the front sway bar assy can be noisy. The bar has a tendancy to "clunk" from side to side if not adjusted correctly.

As for handling, torsion bars and tires made a more noticable difference.

I've got AJ-USA's through-the-body replacement in front (22mm), and a Weltmeister in back (22mm). As both are very broadly adjustable, I wouldn't be too put off by the thickness. For street driving, you could even remove the droplinks entirely.

You have a broad range of options from replacing the bars with a larger factory bar to the extreme of the cock-pit adjustable sway bars. Unless it is a full time competiton car, Weltmeister is just fine. I have 22mm Weltmeister bars on the front and rear of my '72 911. The hardware was high quality and there is a wide range of adjustability.

My bars came with all the hardware but no instructions. I jumped into the install anyway but ran into trouble almost immediately. I called Chris at Weltmeister (1-877-774-5337). He has installed several bars in 911s. After ten minutes on the phone I was able to easily complete the install.

For sizing the bars, I would drive different cars. What is too stiff to someone else is just right to another. If you belong to PCA, go to some of the events and drive different suspension setups. Most the participants are eager to share information.
