Newbie Question re: Wheels 1982 911SC

Still sorta new to Planet 911. Have a nice 82SC with about 70K miles, just acquired from the original owner. Engine checks out nice, and so I am proceeding to upgrade and sort it out a bit more, including the wheels. Will not be a track car, more of a weekend let it loose kind of thing.

Still has the original 15x6 and 15x7 cookie cutter wheels, but tire choices seem thin, so I think I want to with 16x6 and 16x7 wheels. Here are some newbie questions:

Maxilite - simple question with whether standard size center caps will fit into these wheels, or will I need to do something funky.

Fuchsfelge - same question as above.

Fuchs - ok here is the really dumb question - I have read in a post that Porsche sells new Fuchs (for example PN 911.362.115.07). Question 1 - are these different than Fuchsfelge? (2) Do we think they are forged and therefore a "better" product?

Sorry for the noob questions, just trying to figure it out, the thought of procuring few Fuchs, assuming they are technically superior, is appealing even though I will need to shell out serious dollars.

Thx!

https://www.fuchsfelgeusa.com/ - New Fuchs, from the original maker. You can buy them through Pelican as well.

They are very nice.

The original center caps fit. You can of course run without them.

The above will use oe late centers
keep in mind that even oe Porsche Fuchs used 3 different center caps

for instance 8x15 Fuchs came in 3 generations
1) 911.361.020.02*- smaller hole in center to accept 3-prong center caps

2) 911.361.020.12*- larger hole in center to accept 'ring'-type center cap, 'hubcentric' hub

3) 911.361.020.42*- as above but slightly heavier wheel

The new Fuchsfelge seem to be somewhat lighter than the older oe Fuchs

I'd think a bit more on what you want
some better choices are
7 & 8 x15 usual tire choices 205/50 & 225/50 or 205/50 & 225/45
or 7 & 8 x16 usual tire choices 205/55 * 225/50 or 205/50 & 225/45
or 7 & 9 x16 usual tire choice 205/50 & 245/45

the actual tire choices depend on want you want to emphasize about the cars performance

My '83SC came with Fuchs 6&7x16 in 1988 when I bought her. A year later, I put the 7x16 up front and bought 8x16 for the rear. Very nice improvement in handling stability, keeping the same tire sizes. Since you are starting from scratch, I advise against 6&7.

I bought the new Fuchsfelge 9x16 a year ago; now just waiting for my current tires to wear or reach age limits before using the new 9 rears with new, wider 245s.

I've been very happy with my 7&8x16, but Bill can advise you more precisely. Sorry I cannot comment on the 9x16 yet.

7 & 8 x 16 somehow look right on the SC.

I had 6 & 7's and it looked a bit anaemic.

I got two Maxilites and the center caps didn't fit. I got stuck into them with pliers and a hammer and they now fit. Why they didn't make the hole the same size I do not know

I would say check what tire choices you have for the different sizes also, you may find a 17" wheel will afford you many more options than a 15" or 16"...
