Vacuum Leak

Hi-

I've been reading posts about taking the cover off your oil fill tube and if the car idles the same you have a vacuum leak. I pulled the cap off and nothing changed with the idle and looked around for loose connector, but can anyone point me to common vacuum leak areas?

Thanks

Carl

Also, use a smoke machine, or spray/mist starter fluid or propane near the suspicious areas.

If the idle increases, you found your leak!

Good luck,

Great photos of typical vaccum leaks ! For additional leaks check your intake manifold hold down nuts, Soak them with penetrant, Back them up 1/4 turn then re-torque, Very common on 3.2 carreras,

Hope this helps, Lou

+ what Dr Gerry wrote.

I saw this on YouTube, a fella used a cigar and blew into one of the vacuum hoses to find his leak. Have not tried it but I did have my wrench use a smoke machine to find a torn "U" hose like the one in his 1st pic.

Those intake nuts should be re-torqued every 15k or so. Even with care, the 3.2 engines like to suck the gaskets..very notorious leakers.
