HP JUNKIES Next Victim for HP?
Fellow Junkies,
Im looking for opinions on what will be the best 911 choice to build a Drag Car must be able to accomodate a Twin Turbo 3.6 and possible a 4.0 Twin Turbo,big brakes etc no sunroof,I Think something from the 70s? I'd say 68-69 tub, for weight. I don't know if the short wheel base affects your ability to make the mods to allow a G50 box with it (maybe a Turbo 4-speed is all you need -- drag racing is not my area of expertise, at all). But drive train issues will be your main focus on a project like that. You might want to talk to George (the SWAMP MONSTER V8 guy). I know he's done some serious mods in that department.
Aside from that, you'd probably want Turbo flares in the rear only. There was a Buick turbo-V6 drag racer at the Dunkel's show, with that arrangement. No need to slow yourself down with big fronts. Sounds fun, but not very cheap.

another plus is you can get a pre 69 chassis aka 912 chassis for under 500
that leaves alot more money for the engine... |

Juan, if you're goint to get serious about drag racing a 911 just buy a racecar shell. Light weight with a tube frame, and tub mods are already done.
