intro / fibreglass rocker panel removal
Hi!
This is my first post. Thank you for such a great web site and forum. I'm starting a 79' turbo look semi restore (just want to get is safe and running to start). It is in pretty rough shape. I pulled out one rats nest so far. Does anyone have advice on how to remove the fibreblass rocker panels? seems like it is glued on across the entire length. I am removing them to remove the lines underneath, use the jack point and , I like the stock look beter so I will not re-use them. Im thinking I'll have to cut them off small piece by small piece and grind/sand down to original surface. Thank you Andrew ![]() |

Probably better off posting this in the body and paint forum.
Are the fenders and wheel wells steel or fiberglass? Almost looks like they are bonded together if they are fiberglass. Looks like a small screw under the front wheel well?

Make sura all screws are out, if the are bonded, you have to use a heat gun and a plastic chisel. heat and slide chisel inbetween. The plastic chisel will do minimal damage to the paint. Make sure you move the heat gun alot, do not keep in one spot to long or you can damage filerglass. Good luck! post progress.

Thanks for the response!
Metal fenders, there are some screws front and back. I will cut them off from the back and then try a plastic chisel and heat gun. I just pulled the motor yesterday so I'm on to cleaning that up and breaking it down. I will post pics when I get to pulling of the rocker. Andrew |
