When is it time to change transmission mounts
Hi guys,
I have a 71 911T that has never had it's transmission mounts changed. How do I know when to change them? They do look worn. I am confused on the parts. It says here at Pelican that I need to buy the entire Transmission bar instead of just the two transmission mount inserts that are also used for the engine mounts. Is this true for a 71? The Porsche dealer parts department told showed me a diagram and it shows just the inserts for replacement? Any suggestions. mh |

I don't believe replacement inserts are available. If the 71 trans mount is similar to that in a 69 you have to weld new mounts onto the bar, or replace the entire assembly. Your best bet is to check with WEVO. They offer a service where they take your old mounting bar, cut off the old mounts, weld new ones in place, and then powdercoat the whole thing so it looks like a brand new piece. You end up with refreshed mounts using modern polymer cushions.

That is correct. They are not designed to be replaced. There are a few aftermarket solutions, or you shop for a good used one.

Targa,
Thanks. I checked out Wevo site. Ok. The 71 Trans Mount has it's mounts welded inside the bracket. The dealer diagram is wrong, it shows inserts are available. Thanks guys mh |
