87 911 3.2 cuts out on acceleration under load.

I'm new to the forum and to the car. Runs good overall but it has starting completely cutting out under acceleration, violently and usually around 3k rpms WOT or close to it in 3rd. It has not happened before it is warmed up and in closed loop. The tach does not drop and it continues to run if you lift off the throttle and ease back in. Fuel pressure is good running in my garage. The filter looks newer and i refilled with fresh gas from a busy station that moves lots of gas every week. The coil checks ok with DVOM. I pulled the DME and inspected the boards, all looks good and the chip is stock.
It feels like the ignition is breaking down under a load, but I haven't been able to confirm any failed parts. I'm wondering if anyone has linked similar concerns to crank or speed signals dropping out (but I'm not sure what a low rpm heavy load would have to do with the reference signals). I'm about to toss a new coil at it and see what happens but I hate throwing parts at cars.

Check the distributor rotor for slop, up and down and axially.

Then the OHMS on the Ref/speed sensors.

Oh Welcome to the Board!

Does it feel like the engine runs out of fuel at WOT? Might be because it is. Check fuel pump pressure and volume. Engine needs more fuel at high rpm/load.
