Photo of AC pump support bracket needed
Hi gang,
Quick request please. Can anyone quickly post a pic of an engine with an A/C pump and its support bracket at the back please? Specifically, one using a 1989 kind of vintage Carrera intake manifold and injection rails, and the associated bracketry that bolts it to the top of the cam tower. I'm using a Carrera setup with stock rails for my EFI conversion on a 964 Turbo (C2T, 965), but as I found out the other day, my original support brace now fouls the Carrera injection setup, so am contemplating the neatest way of re-siting or re-making a support tube. ![]() I'm guessing my pump will be different from those on other models, so am prepared to cut/shut something, but if there are standard brackets I can retrofit at the engine side, then all the better. Thanks guys Spencer.

Tried that earlier thanks...lots of shots of engines in the car where you cant see the brackets I mentioned. Was hoping to get a photo similar to mine above, shot from the side, from somebody that snapped something whilst mid-build.

Here is a link from Google advanced search on "3.2 911 air conditioning bracket" that shows all images from the Pelican Forums.

Thanks Bob....getting far more useful pics in that link. Have now diagnosed where a bracket that a mate has lent me fits (and I dont think it's going to do the job for me, unfortunately). Think it may be time to make some custom brackets.
Cheers Spencer

Good deal. You can modify the search terms and spit out different pics.

Yup, thanks for the pics...all the pictures show a consistent absence of the diagonal strut that I have on my setup, that bolts to the top of the pump...so I guess that ally cast item on the far left in the pic is what's used instead.
So, I guess what I need to do is see what the guys in the 930 forum have done when they substitute the 930 pancake intake for the Carrera item, but crucially, retain the Turbo AC pump (rather than try to use Carrera mounting hardware, which looks too different) Cheers S

Pmsl! You got me worried for a moment, thought the Pelican spelling monitor had auto corrected something in favour of a reference to male genitalia!

Cheers mate, it's turning into a real labour of love, well over a year for what started off as a straightforward EFI conversion.....but then...I'm not unique with a "while-I'm-at-it-itis" project!

Spenny,
OK. Will let you use the conjunction form of while, but only to hold the crank rods to the journals. Keep up of the good work, good pics. |
