Sounds like a decent set of wheels. The demand for "14 isn't as high as for 15" so the final value may not be quite what you'd like. This also depends on how & who does the refinishing.
I had a set of 14" wheels way back (20 years ago). They were nice looking with a fair amount of sidewall showing on a higher profile tire. |
That is cool, I will only have about 1,600 in them.
I will sell the wheels with car anyway. |

There just aren't any kind of performance tires in 14". 15" you can find a few things. I'd find a decent set of 15" flat 6's and rattle can refinish for the best value. |

A decent set of .00 or .10 15x6s will set you back $800 to $1000. |
Well crap!
That is great, now I have a set of wheels I don't want to refinish and apparently got hosed on. Does it make a difference at all that they are going on a 1969 E 14"s are what it would have come with anyway? |
Nope can't get my money back.
I will just sell them off. FUDGE! Anyone want to buy a set of immaculate 14s? |

Fair enough. The car does only have 68,000 miles on her but I want to make the car a good driver I'm just not happy with the cookie cutters that are on the car now.
I think I will just paint and polish them up and get rid of them. C'est la vie Not the first time I have pissed away money. |

Those look good, but I think Fuchs just look cooler.
What looks really cool are 14 inch fuchs I actually have a set if you are interested just PM me. ;) I think I can turn them into decent condition drivers for someones old bug a couple of cans of rustoleum should do the trick. |
If you have a 69E then the `14" would be the correct wheel. If your car is going to stay original then I would stay with those wheels and don't look back.

Thanks James
That makes me feel better. The car is pretty much original as it sits and I'm taking it back to MFI anyway. 0 to 60 in 8.5 seconds does not sound to me like a track monster. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1352346833.jpg |
I sold an original set of 5 date code matched 14's that came on my '71 part of the comfort group, advertised local on craigs with good tires for $600 knowing I would be looking at $500. Sold them to a 914 guy. As stated tires are tough to come by in the correct size unless you go pricey vintage remakes, I ran Pirelli 195/70's not bad and they were comfy.
Core prices for deep sixes have hovered around $500 each for a few years now, after proper refinishing shipping to and from could put you around $3k or more. You should be able to find some nice driver 7x15's for less and after deep sixes I like their look, better than 16x6 and flat 6's and a little better tire choice. I wouldn't refinish the 14's it really won't pay off, really mint one's aren't all that desireable and won't get the money. Drive on your cookie cutters and shop around during the winter and hope for something cool on your car by spring. Research tire choices and availabilty it will help in your decision. David |
Nice looking car. Mirror i in the wrong place. Keep the cookies for track wheels since you can get better tires.

Point taken rattle can finish all the way if anything on these.
Are these the Pirelli's you are talking about Pirelli P4 Four Seasons 195/70R14 Tires for Sale Online - Vulcan Tire Sales good catch on the mirror. That should be a simple fix. Can someone give me a loan? |
