James,
That car actually belongs to Terry English, who has done a great job on this car. Great article and pix by Randy Wells. This shows what can be done with vision, mad skills...and a budget. regards, Al

Nice article...
...and a really nice early 911/912. It's tough on a budget, but it can be done.
I am collecting parts for a '73 RS tribute backdate myself. The key is scouring ads and swap meets for good used or discounted new parts, doing most of the work yourself, and having a bit of luck with the mechanics. The flip side is the old Excellence article about an uber expensive SC project - use new parts, pay someone else to do all the work, and have unreasonable expectations from a 30+ year old car, and you can easily drop silly money ($100k?) on a similar project... |

I like the car and the article but it would cost a bit more than that if you did not have the engine and transmission in the garage ready to go in. I guess unless you bought a driver but then it would cost more for your starting point. Very cool car, some day I want to drive on like that.
