Refinishing fuchs, a few more questions

I started refinishing a spare set of 15x6 for my car, while my primary wheels are at Weidman's wheels for the winter and because in the meantime I do not like the wheels my car is riding on (hea-vy!)

Easy Off over cleaner, done... Steel wool, done... more over cleaner, more steel wool..4 times total... 90% there but I'm running out of ligaments and hand muscle for today ;-)

A few more Qs if you don't mind:

- I want to go scotch brite finish on them and repaint the black center... Is there ANY reason to polish with mag polisher at this point ? I don't see much point making them shine like a mirror only to dull them up again later with a brillo pad, but if it's a required step for some reason, I need to know...

- Is there any part of this process that can be done with a rotary tool of some sort ? Really my hands aren't gonna make it, or it's gonna take me weeks ;-)

- Is there a magical cure for deeper scratches such as these ? I'm NOT holding my breath but it is worth asking...

Thanks guys ! Those don't have to be perfect, just not embarrassing until Harvey sends me my pretty refurbished ones...

25$/wheel at my detail shop. The shells were in good shape, but now they look like a brand new set. Sometimes it's worth the $

I would not think of polishing these unless you want to go full balls to the walls on the anodized finish. Hand scuff with pads and that's it. Rotary tools will make shiny spots and then you have to bring the entire anodized finish to that level. Not worth it.

You can get scotch brite circular pads on a stem for an air grinder but they are about $15 for a set of maybe six at HFT. I would use that on the paint sections only.

How about 400 grit wet sanding paper for the balance of the paint and live with the imperfections till spring?

Deep Fuchs scratches

On mine, I took out similar scratches with a 220 or so grit pad with a drill sanding pad set up. You may be tempted to go with a coarser grit, but the coarser grit just leads to moe sanding just to polish out the sandpaper gri marks. 220 grit seemed about right to remove the curb/tire install scrapes while still letting me polish and buff to a polished finish witout removing too much mor material.

Bottom line, I think you can sand and polish those scuffs without any concerns over wheel integrity. My wheels are street use, racers may feel differently.

Best of luck, no matter how you go about it, it's either a good amount of work or fairly expensive to refinish wheels.
