Chromed Fuchs Value

I have found a set of 7x16 and 8x16 fuchs I am considering picking up, however they are chromed and need a refinish. What do you all think they are worth since they will require more work (if even possible) to refinish? Wheels are straight, no issues, they have just been chromed in the past and look bad. Anybody know what it takes to get the chrome off? Thanks!

free would be good. they are junk if the chrome has bubbled up. you can strip them, but the aluminum will be pitted. worst thing you can do to fuchs.

I think many people who aren't familiar with Fuchs might think a polished set is chromed. Polished is not wrong, chrome is...

Chroming fuchs is indeed wrong. The chemical and electroplating process tends to make the aluminum brittle and prone to cracking.

Dustin is right, check that they aren't "mirror polished" (which is fine - even desirable for some). As JWW says, if they have been chromed (and especially if the chrome has flaked and deteriorated) I'd walk away...

Its a shame, but they are chromed and corroded pretty bad behind the chrome, Houston humidity doesnt help much either. My plan was to use these as track wheels, I think I will keep looking. Thanks for all the input!

Chromed Fuchs are great as a hose reel. That is about all they are good for.
