I own a horse, and from what I've seen, they are very adaptable. You just have to "work" with them.

In this instance, I think the horses just need MORE exposure to the car so they get used to it... the verdict is: drive your green machine MORE often!

Perhaps in concert with this green machine? Then you neighbors would love your comparitively quiet P-car..

I gotta admit, the older I get, the more loud exhausts irritate me. Especially when there is no real performance gains, as here:

My problem with loud exhausts is that I tend to USE the car. (not "use", it is "USE"!!!) and the noise attracts attention. Just what I need is to have the cops know that they should be looking my direction before I even come into to view.

Similar to that problem is that everyone goes insane around that car. You're just driving along and every idiot thinks they are racing. I don't need another 'hot rodder' in a four door Toyota trying to ram the car because their testosterone won't let them just drive their own car.

Every time I think of buying a Boss 302 I wonder how much a good detailer would charge to "destripe" it..

Late to this thread and I admit I haven't read the whole thing. But, I can tell you I make it a point to hammer my 993 w/modded exhaust down every main drag in my town. I tend to want to remind the owners that they made the choice to buy/live in a area (hidden straightaway, etc.) where something like that could happen (wink-wink). I'm sure they know me quite well as I get the occasional 'gesture'. I say, F'em! Fortunately, I can hide my car in a garage from them...

Thanks man, you're a lot of help to the rest of us. Our cars stand out a bit more than your average Toyota, instead of saying: "There goes that azzhole", they say: "There goes that azzhole in the Porsche".

Many thanks
I would hammer it down your block but I'm sure the potholes and traffic would greatly prevent that

In case you haven't figured it out yet, most P-car owners ARE pompous Azzholes! Guilty as charged here! At least I admit it.

I will edit:
If horses, any other animal or kids are around I tone it down (a bit)...

I suggest ear plugs for the horse person. Then get that person to train the horse to not be spooked, or get another horse that wont be spooked. I know guys that shot guns from horseback, they have to train the horse to not be spooked, some horses cant be trained. It may not be that you car is too loud, rather that the horse is overly sensitive or has been poorly trained, or the horse owner is just out of their mind, and the horse is not really bothered Drive on.

PS you might ask the horse people to keep the horse poop smells within the confines of there own property. I know that can really stink, at least to non-horse people.

So have you gone to new mufflers on the car this past week? I followed you for a bit and didn't think you were any louder than any of the other hot-rodded participants on the Turkey Run.

It was the right thing to do. The horse people were here before I was.

I ride a Ducati as well as driving an RS America that sounds....spirited. (It sets off alarms). Rule of thumb, neutral and coast past horses. YOu get one JA that gets thrown and injured, and they know where you live, you know sue happy California. So quiet past the horsey, flip off the cop, rip up the canyon. Oh yea and I agree, taking the uneducated for a drive always helps.

Pull into the stable and visit with them a bit. Take someone for a ride.
Honestly tho, I ride (horse) near a highway...18 wheelers and J brakes etc. Half the time it's an excitable human and not the horse.
Also ride him in parades, behind our firetruck with the sirens going...they get use to it. Unlike the owners lol.
