All fixed!!!!
What am I doing wrong? This is a new install. The motor is a stock 1984 Euro 3.2 motor with stock injection. The trans is a stock 1986 915. I can't get the trans to attach to the motor. The clutch kit is brand new and I made sure that the alignment tool fit perfectly. The clutch fork slides into the throw out bearing, so that shouldn't be it. The motor is out of the car. Any ideas? ![]() ![]()

You may want to import a pal to help. I know that mine was a really discouraging procedure until it hit the right angle then it slid in like butter.

have you tried rotating the output flanges by hand while pushing the tranny twd engine? Sounds like its not getting into the clutch spline

Rotate the fork to be along the line of axis.
Level the tranny with respect to the engine, use a jack if you have to. Engage the tranny to the engine about 2 inches away, make sure the fork engages the TO bearing via the hole at the top. Grab both flanges on the side of the tranny, turn them both toward the engine or away from the engine so that the input shaft turns slightly. Stand over the tranny with it between your legs, push/pull the tranny into the engine while turning the input shaft using the flanges as above. Once it is engaged at the input shaft, it will slide in with a bit of wiggling. For the last 1/2 inch, you may need to tighten the nuts and pull the tranny the rest of the way home.

Thanks that makes sense!!! I will try that. The trans was in neutral, I will put it in gear so I can move the mainshaft with the axle flanges. I will also try to put the trans on something so its the same height as the motor. I am also trying to solicit someone to help me!! The 901 trans was allot easier.

I can relate, I am in the process of fitting a 6 speed G50 to my project, I don't know how many times I have had to put engine and transmission together....way too many and way too ugly.
Two people is actually the key along with a jack. One person needs to worry about alignment on a planar basis by lifting and tilting. The other person needs to do the wiggling and rotation of the input shaft (via the flanges). I found that I am not strong enough to do both at once reliably, which is partly because the wretched transmission weighs a ton. I also found it helpful to make sure that the engine is stationary and doesn't move, all that pushing and shoving with both components moving just makes it more difficult. I also presume you have the studs that hold the two together in place....they certainly help with the alignment. When it slides home is is a wonderful feeling though.... Dennis |

Thanks everyone for the help and advice!!!
I didn't need my daughters boy friends help. ![]() After using boards to level the motor on the lifting table and using a floor jack for the trans, the dam thing slid right in like butter. Even though its a 914, I figured you guys would know the answer. Thanks again. Here is a shot of the 916 trans with my stock euro 3.2. Can't wait to get it into the car and have gears that match the motor. The 914 trans was nice on the track but horrible for the street. ![]()
