Finally got my dream car!

hey everyone,

Since I was a wee lad I've been in love with Porsches and the 930 in particular.

Finally last summer I got my dream car... Here's my baby: an '87 930 - got her with 50,000 miles and have since put on another 7k

I've been a lurker here on the board for almost a year now and I thought it was finally time to reveal myself... I'd also like you thank you for all the amazing information, stories, pictures and good times this board has provided me with... It's truly amazing to be a part of the pelican community. Although I don't have much mechanical experience, this board has really helped me to better understand p-cars and the people who love them. It's really great to see so many kind and knowledgeable people who are so passionate about their cars... Looking forward to meeting you all...

-Paul

Welcome aboard! That's a sweet looking Turbo. Have you got any tricks on it?

Yikes. That makes me want to lock up my daughter, and I don't even have a daughter.

Cool car.

Thanks for all the kind words. So far the car is bone stock. Even in that state it's still a monster to drive. I've thought about doing some mods, but I'm looking to do at least one DE before I make any modifications. I want to see how she handles on the track before I get ahead of myself. The only thing I want to do as soon as possible is get a 930s steering wheel. Any performance suggestions would be much appreciated. It seems like the general consensus is new headers, K-27, and bigger intercooler... thoughts?

Paul:
For ideas, check the list of what my 930's P.O. did, b/c the result is incredible. His site is still active: www.geekrent.com/gem. Check pages 2 and 3 especially.
I can't discuss the relative merits of each individual enhancement b/c I've only known the car with the whole package. Nonetheless, when I found this car, the mods read like my personal upgrade wishlist (except that I'll probably go back to Fuchs).
Oh, and the actual color of the car is much cooler than the images on his site (at least on my p/o/s monitor) would lead you to believe.

I'll keep an eye out for you at the local pca events.

The data in the CD-type disc decodes easily into ASCII computer text as follows, using 8 bit binary:
*
"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES. Much PAIN but still time. (Damaged Word). There is GOOD out there. We OPpose DECEPTION. Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)”
*
The damaged word would appear to be intended as “BELIEVE”.

Nice 930

My advice for you is to have fun and never let her go. I wish they still made them like that.

Congrats on the new ride. That is a sinister looking 930 you now own. Being a fellow 930 owner, the only thing I can recommend is attend a drivers ed program or autocross event with your local pca. These will make all the difference in the world. Have fun.
