Carrera Rear Caliper Piston Question
Rebuilding the rear calipers of my 86 Carrera while the suspension and engine/tranny are out.
On the passenger side all went well with the removal of the pistons. The driver was another story and I had to pry them out after failing with compressed air. I tried pushing them back in with a C-clamp and prying them out several time, adding PB Blaster when the pistons were partially out. Alas I broke off part of the ledge that holds the seal on each piston... ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry for the crappy pics from my iPhone... Is it OK to replace the pistons on one caliper and not the other?

The calipers have been removed for a while.
The pistons would not come out past a certain point; there was a bit of rust on them...

Stupid question, how do you prevent brake fluid from getting everywhere when using your brake line when the piston pops out? I used air last time I did it.

Oh damn, call me next time, so we can have two brains on it
![]() Not stupid, a fellow pelican came over with his stuck calipers and we used my car to pop them out, He also failed with air. No biggy, I just pressed the brakes 2 inches and locked them in place, removed the brake line and placed it on his and then I pressed the pedal down, "pop" it came right out. Yeah, you need a fool like me to do that but if all else fails???
