I think mine are cad plated.... no rust issues. Is this what you mean by open?

Cut off the closed end of the factory nut on a lathe.

Not to hyjack, but I bought steel VW lug nuts. Is there a difference between those and the Porsche ones? They are both M14 x 1.5.

Well typically the old VW steel lugs are a direct fit for the Porsche stuff. It appears newer M14 VW/Audi nuts have different radius on the seat?

If you look at the specs tabs for their various nuts, it looks like the Porsche nuts have a 14mm radius and the VW/Audi is 13mm radius.
