Casis

On my 87 Carrera Targa the CASIS light works on some days and not on others. No pattern and no problems or symptoms. Just the light not working. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks. Chuck...

Lightbulb

Chuck,
I would suggest just disconnecting that goofy light altogether.

Very simple to do. On the six spade connector on the bottom, center of the back of the tach, the CASIS/upshift light is controlled by the black wire/spade that connects to the upper left corner (Terminal 1) of the connector. Disconnect, tape off and you're done.

Unless, of course, you enjoy the tach nagging you about fuel economy...

Tim

Thanks, Tim. Will do that. I don't see much use from the light, just another distraction.

You can also just remove the bulb and forget about it.

Yes the light can be very annoying. But the light will also tell you the optimum shift points during brisk acceleration. Dash mounted tach/shift lights are all the rage with kids these days. Porsche cleverly disguised their shift light as a fuel economy indicator. Even 007 doesn't have something like that in his BMW 750.
