reverse lights not working...
Hi everyone. Trying to get my reverse lights to work on my 1970 911T, bulbs new and ok, fuses ok (I think, none blown) although there is a fuse missing second from bottom, I can't fathom out what it's for and it keeps blowing when I put a fuse in! Where is the reverse light switch on this model? I've heard on the forum that could be a problem area? Thanks...

switch is on front of transmission (next to the shifter shaft) covered by a rubber cover, 2 wires with male terminals go into switch.

I ran into close to the same problem you are experiencing - fuse blew every time I put it in reverse. Turned out the switch was grounding internally when I shifted into reverse- essentially shorting out into the case, blowing the fuse. Pull the rubber cover off, pull out the two male pin connectors and check if there is continuity between the female electrical ports and the case - check in reverse and when not in reverse. If it does ground out, it's toast. I am assuming the 1970 switch is similar to my 81 switch. If not you should be able to figure out how to test it. It simply connects the circuit to the reverse light switch. There should be power to one side of the switch when the car is on (probably just with the key in the on position). ![]()

Probably has something to do with how the switch is engaged. The PET mentions a cam in the series of parts for the 901 switch. The 915 has a pin.
Probably related to how the 901 can have 1st and reverse serviced with the trans in the car where the 915 has to be removed but I am guessing. Pelican Technical Article: Replacing 1st Gear on the 901 Transmission

Thanks for the replies. I got under the car this evening and found the switch, however, there was no connection to it! There are two brown wires close by, towards the rear of the car that have been cut so I'm guessing that these are the wires for the switch. The switch looks a bit rough around the connection ports so I'll order a new one and start over. No transmission fluid came out when the switch was removed, I read that this is a common hazard, I do have the car up on the switch side though.... Any comments welcome, first 911 so all this is new but enjoying every job!!
