Wink HP Junkies 3.2 Undercover Up Date

For all the HP Junkies that have follow the project.

Yesterday we fire the engine up and after a few minutes she quit on us and I left.

Today we fire her up and a Faulty front fuel pump delay the test drive,we replaced the fuel pump, fire her up and YES a new baby was born! the engine sound real nice, you can hear the cams and if you stand on the back you can see her doing a little dance side to side, even my tunner said boy those cams! she sound good !we idle for about 10 minutes check for leaks everything bone dry, we found that the fuel pressure reguator must be calibrated so tomorrow we will Test Drive Her!

My good friend with the BMW M3 600+HP Give me a brand new turbo as a present (so my tuner did't tell me what is,but is free!) so we have a bigger turbo and we will install it next week.

Tomorrow I will take pictures of the finish product.

So I figure I share with my other Family

Regards
Juan

Damn! I just drooled on my tie

Juan, sounds like things are progressing well. E-mail some pics and if possible, post an MPEG of her idling and shaking that sexy butt. We should name her "Shakira" - bwahahahahah!!!!

I would be interested to know what type of turbo you went with in the end. A T60-1 would have been perfect

I figure you should be at around mid 500HP. Let us know when you get some figures down.

Curious, did you end up using a head gasket or cylinder base gasket? What type of boost will you be running?

Did you buy those 930 P&C's brand new, or second hand?

Looks like you're gonna hit the road before I do! Still waiting on an acorn nut for the rear fuel pump - unbelievable!

We WILL be waiting for pictures.

Jack,Thanks I sure will do that and thank you for following the project to the complete process I Know that down and deep you are a HP Junkie and Black Beauty some day will get her Turbo!

Merv Thanks

I think I can call Jennifer Lopez she has the curves and can shake the but

I belive the turbo is a TO4B but the secret is on the hot housing and trim will see, but the tununer said you are cover up to 580hp Gee Thanks!

We Nirosist the heads and cylinders and install a metal shim this will keep the boost inside and God knows we need it !

My tuner wants to do the beaking in at .8bar but he will FINALLY will set her at 1.3 Bar

P&C were used they came from RUF directly from a conversion that they did the car had 26,000 miles they were like new,and funny I meet a Friend of the Ruf guy his been friends with him for the last 18 years we talk and talk he was impress with the project
and I was in heaven

well thats it FOLKS!

Hey Jaun, it's good to see you car is running! You have inspired many on this board with your words, and when you get the car back, you will inspire many more. It's nice to see that even though you went through hell to get all the answers you were looking for at the beggining of your quest, you still share all the info and knowledge you have gained, just to make it easier for the next guy. Most people aren't like you.

Juan--DON"T run 1.3 bar on pump gas, right? I know what it's like, my friend, to wait a looong time for a car only to chunk a piston from running too much boost. Although in my case it was 1.7 bar on 110 gas, the principle is the same. Be careful out there....

And enjoy it! My favorite thing is to scare the ***** out of my friends when they ride in it the first time. Or at least it's one of my favorite things...

So Bruce, what was it like for that short period at 1.7bar?

Agree with Mike, thanks Juan for sharing your project specifications and progress with us.

We are all hanging out to see the worldwide HP JUNKIES chapter unfold and eagerly wait for the next exciting episode

I won't be contributing any 'chapters' to the show in the short term, but rest assured, when I'm ready to go that step further, I'll be sharing my plans with this board for input/feedback/suggestions/flamings or whatever the case may be

Juan - thanks for the info! It's been a while since I've checked the boards, so I guess I need to re-read some of the older posts.

Did you do a Protomotive system? I seem to recall in some of the earlier posts Protomotive being mentioned. If you did go with them, which Stage did you use, and would you recommend them again?

Thanks, and post pics and videos when you can!

Todays Up date COMPLETE DESASTER! SO I went to the shop she fire right up and still sound awesome even better than yesterday so it appears that the fuel pressure regulator been bad it clog two of the spark plugs, in addition down here in SUNNY FLORIDA start to rain real hard so we had to pospone the test drive to tomorrow .

The system is very similar to Protomotive but the combination I put together tru all the PAIN AND SUFFERING in addition to the LITTLE HELP THAT I Recieve,Protomotive is ONE of the top 5 Shops in US that catter the REAL HP for Porsches Period. If you have the money but most Important you must WAIT and Wait
all this Hot Rod Shops even including the one that Im using relay in a certan reputation so they will take their time, with that said.

I never use them directly but they were the GRANDFATHER of the project on the first time, if we have to call a stage the way that we desing the project we call it a Stage 3 but Borderline Stage 4.

I can tell you that I have see in Person the Red engine from the web page my friend( Jim build it) and the car in the page is the one that has this engine, on sundays they go to a secluded area and they race motorcycles! the car has run 204MPH in a 1 Mile distance! so they can build fast cars thats for sure.

Proto Sport is in New Jersy and they used to had a 911 twin turbo with 800hp running 9s in the 1/4 mile and the list goes on and on.

Hope this helps and I must stop writing when it comes to this I can write for ever,If you see some of the cars that roll in and out of the shop that I use you could not belive it.
Regards Juan

Juan,

Is the pressure regulator too rich, thus causing the fouled plugs?

Is the regulator 'tunable'? I know Mike has a regulator which he can fine tune manually to get the right fuel mixture. Maybe he'll tune in and offer some advice here.

Anyway, sounds like your mechanic has things in hand, so good luck with the test drive tomorrow.

Are you using the Protomotive Stage 3 (or 4) CHIP?

Is your system still using the factory Air Flow Meter & Motronics or have you gone more elaborate and migrated to Motec?

Merv, the fuel pressure regulator is a Protomotive and you can open it and adjusted but it seems that from sitting so long it got stock is working fine know, the chip is custom from my tuner they all have the same type were they can programm as you wish
Im still using the motronics but they do the FINAL TUNING with a MOTEC set up and thats a Big Key,so maybe tomorrow we can go for spin if weather permits

WOW! How does THAT work?

Does he use a Motec for the initial programming on the dyno and then once all the fuel/ignition maps are satisfactory, he then converts the Motec code to Motronic code for your factory ECU? Please explain bro!!!

I heard, if you go to a MAP (Pressure Sensing) based EMS, you automatically gain HP due to the less restrictive intake AND it gives you more granularity in defining fuel/ignition maps, thus allowing you to run slightly more boost at the same C/R! Is this true?

Please enlighten me 'Oh Wise One'

Merv,Well Lets see since Im still learning the way it goes(well this how he does it) Depending of what you do to the engine thats how will set the boost, the customer have to comply with his request(example,If you want to run 1.3 bar of boost like in my case you must have all the necessary parts in, proper hardware etc, other wise he will only set it to .8 bar) one thats establish the engine is build and all things that he find wrong with the internals must be properly repair before we can talk HP! one we pass that stage the engine is build as agree to, in my case because I have become a real good friend of him I get a LOT of little secrets, plus I get to work on it like, I install the studs, pistons and cylinders and heads, after that the engine is drop in the car all the necessary fabriction is done,The installation of Gauges etc is done, and here is were it gets intersesting as mention before they have a programm with the guide lines and from previous set ups they BURN the chip and they install it is almost like a generic one then they fire the engine look for leaks monitor gauges etc, they stop the engine tap it with oil then they install a Manual Fuel Pressure Gauge that runs all the way into the driver side and duck tape it to the post then the install the Motec to interface with the Motronic they weld a nipple and install a oxigen sensor to operate the Motec, the Motec sits in the Dash ,next they go for spin to see where they are, back to the shop and replace the chip, next the boost will be SET at .8 bar and THEY will drive the car for 100-200 miles, next change the oil synthetic goes in ,spark plugs are change and boost is raise to the setting agree(my 1.3 )Im trying to talk him into 1.35 netx the car is tested again if the Motec is reading ok the car goes to the dyno with the customer, 4 runs are made and the final tuning is done at the dyno, the car is back to the shop to the lift and one more general inspection, after that the car is detailed and ONLY Then when he is 100% happy the car is handle over to the customer. Sorry is so long but thats the way they do it.
But of couse ALL Tuners do it different,Protomotive dyno the engine before they go in the car,Proto Tech does it the same way as my tunner so it depends,
I hope I make you smile with the Details
Regards
