How did you attached that mesh cover in the fog light hole? SmileWavy

I used a few strips of rubber seal that I had and bonded them using epoxy between the valance and the mesh.
The universal aluminum diamond mesh is from amazon. :)

Replaced my dead turn signal relay. Turns signals finally regulating properly!

I beat on it with a rubber mallet, and then did its hair.

Evidently the PO caught the front fender some how with the tire and pulled about 3" of fender lip down. I heated it up with the dryer and then rubber malleted it into submission. Came out great (and less filling!).

Today? Nothing.

This past weekend, installed an Rs carpet kit with the 35ish square feet of Damplifier sound deadener (both of which I've had laying in the garage for 4 years now...) and installed the brand stinking new Euromister 7/9x17 fake Fuchs with some shiny brand stinking new Conti DW tires.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Dude, we need pics of the wheels, size tires. and your car's ride height - actually just I do.

I require more begging.

:p

I replaced Rotas with 215/45/17 and 245/40/17 Conti ExtremeContact DW
with Euromisters with 205/50/17 and 255/40/17 with the same style tires.
The Euros fit tighter to the fender lip, surprisingly. I had all 4 tires grinding at some point over the past 2 days, I need to roll the fenders the weekend. The Rotas didn't grind, despite being the same offset.

The Euros look 100 times better than the Rotas, they damned near look like real Fuchs.

Oh, Euro-ish ride height, I'd have to measure if it's truely Euro, it might be a tad lower.

Does that mount to the A arm?? Is there room for suspension movement?? From the photo it looks like it will get crushed. Also, I'm worried that if you actually get towed, you will have that hook fold and damage the surrounding area. As a racer, I've seen tow operators pull from less than ideal angles, and rush to clear the area, resulting in damaged cars. Sorry to be critical! Work quality looks great!

Never heard of that, jellying the wheels. Does this do something permanent, or is it only temporary and sacrificial like wax. Ever try sonax full effect wheel cleaner? I use that on my oem bbs, and oz wheels on the gti, works like a charm.

Andy, I first saw something about the petroleum jelly here on Pelican. Some posts indicate that it is mentioned in the Porsche manual, although I have never looked it up.

I don't know exactly what it does--maybe it just shines it up a bit. I'm sure it's not permanent, but I suspect it will last a good while.

I haven't tried any other products on the wheels. I was finding small things to do on Father's Day, and this was a quick hit project that I had been wanting to try.

Thanks.

Lawrence

Gibbs penetrating oil is the ducks guts for keeping Fuchs in great shape.

Cheers Al

Replaced filler neck hose and fuel level sender gasket in an effort to eliminate gas smell. Next is the hose from tank to fuel pump. Need to burn off .75 tank before I tackle this one as I do not have enough gas cans to store that much gas and I am too cheap to buy them for a one use deal.

It is recommended in the owner's manual of my '84, so I'm assuming in other years as well.

petroleum jelly

I've used it for years. Wipe some on, then wipe off all you can get off...looks great, lasts and protects

Lapkritis 06-19-2013 09:07 AM

Do you wipe it on the silver lip as well or just the black?

Yes.

78SC ROW. 125k miles. "PB Blastered" the fitting at top of fuel accumulator, and at "beginning" of fitting of return line to tunnel.

(this process will repeat over next 3 days to ensure I can break them loose cleanly without issue)

Len (BoxsterGT) has finished my new rubber lines (with appropriate connectors) and are en-route.

Goal is to replace lines to tunnel fittings this weekend.

Tom
