Engine Lid - Part 2: revenge of the SC

Well, it's fitted and fine, went for a long drive with it and like it. But...

The turbo lettering the PO had on the tea-tray was rubber and glued on. The Carrera lettering on the "new" lid was rubber and glued on. So I ordered the 911SC lettering from Pelican and it's - metal, and apparently requires you to drill holes in the lid and screw it down with "speed nuts." I've decided I'd rather not use this, and I'm looking for alternatives. I'm thinking of creating a template using the real thing I got from Pelican and making my own rubber one and gluing it down, or even making a 911SC magnet (something very James Bond about being able to change the lettering on a whim - it's an SC, a turbo, a Carrera, an RS! I could make magnets of anything!)

Could you cut off the posts and glue it down like the others?

That's a thought - I'd probably need some sort of backing material between the two, like a rubber coating.

Yes. Grind off the posts and use trim adhesive tape.

Put it in a Xerox, then use the copy as a template to cut one from black adhesive. No one will try to steal it and scratch your lid at the same time. And you can take it off with minimal fuss.

You are my new best friend - I've been trying to figure out how to get a 911SC script, only smaller, in decal form to put on my ducktail.

I would cut the posts - it's really hard to get the tracing to look right. Just use double-sided tape to afix it to the car...
