QuozL's 79 SC (IROC Evocation) Build Thread
 

This is my 79SC and it is a work in progress. I've had it for just on 12 months now and we've already done a lot of work to it from how I bought it and it still has a long way to go until we're finished.

All mechanical work is done by Michael Harris at Promotive Engineering here in Brisbane and I can't thank him enough for his attention to detail as well as putting up with my OCD and crazy ideas / questions.

Door cards and powder coated aluminium door locks. All the interior Rennline aluminium bits used to be brushed but I hate bling so had it all powder coated satin black.

Great shot of the arse end. Plates will change eventually, the front and rear impact bumpers will go in favour of IROC replicas as will the rear reflector.

Whats next

This isn't a car for the purist Porscheophile it is my interpretation of a 911 outlaw and it still has a long way to go.

Next up is a brake upgrade by Promotive and a suspension upgrade and tweaking at Murray Coote.

This will be followed by replacing the front and rear bumper bars with the IROC bars, an IROC whale tail for the track and a full respray and replacing the decals with Porsche script as per the IROC cars.

Finally the engine and trans will get a refresh once they need it with some extra displacement to make things a bit more interesting.

Awesome job! Love the wheel/tire combo. And great looking IROC color choice.

With all those interior changes I'm suprised you still have the stock seats. That car begs for some bucket racing seats!

Camera is deceiving, previous owner had it in a garage and a workman dropped a ladder on it, the repair paint work was sub standard so needs addressing.

Also with replacing the bumpers and adding a quick swap whale tail for track days, as well as replacing the mirrors with the black flag mirrors and re doing the script with the Porsche script it is just easier to respray the whole car. We also want to re anodise the side window trims and replace the rear window seat.

Colour is still the original Arrow blue colour the car came with though obviously not the original paint job.

I've been tossing up replacing them with a set of Recaro Pole Positions in leather the same as what Chris Harris used in the Green ST replica he had Tuthill Porsche make for him. So far the only reason fro not pulling the trigger is comfort. I may get a set and see how they are and if I find them too uncomfortable just use them for track days.

I saw this car online when it was for sale. It really caught my eye then but what you have done to it so far is very special.

From what I have seen this this is one of the most enviable SC's going around.

Thanks, I knew the previous owner personally and was very surprised that he actually sold it after saying for years he would never let it go. I rang him just to ask if he knew where I could get something similar and he mentioned he was moving OS and did I want to buy it.

Still a long way to go but looking forward to all of the projects along the way.

I love your car and i love these, may i know where you got them from? the rs door trim with the stitching

Hi Tips,

I believe they are RS America door cards. The knobs are Rennline knobs I powder coated black with Rennline door lock pins and Rennline pull straps.

I bought the car from the previous owner last October 2011 and the door cards were there already but he has them listed in the advert as RS America Door cards.

A lot of the work I have done since getting the car but I can't take credit for the door cards.

The door cards are RS America "Inspired" as the original RS cards don't have the angled stitching. To me this looks like a custom job to keep a bit of the original SC look but simplify the door with RS handle and latch release.

I like the stitching effect because it softens the look a bit. I might borrow that idea if I ever find myself with a lazy weekend and want to do some more tweaks.

BTW - quozl - I like your exposed floor boards. I did a similar finish on mine. I did take a bit of work to get them right though, and having the floor mats re-cut to fit it in.
